YSR Congress has demanded the ruling Telugu Desam Party to make a mention regarding Special Category Status in full public view and seek an assurance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter’s visit for foundation stone ceremony for Aamaravati.
YSRC leaders Botcha Satyanarayana and Ummareddy Venkateswarlu said their party was also seeking an appointment with Mr. Modi to press for Special Category Status.
Objecting to TDP leaders’ criticism of YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s open letter to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the YSRC leaders said the extravaganza was uncalled for and reiterated that they firmly believe that the land was forcibly acquired.

Telugu pride’
Charging the government with mortgaging Telugu pride to Singapore companies, the YSRC leaders said they were not against capital formation but the method in which the land was being pooled and contracts awarded. Questioning the need to have a sponsor for a government programme, they said the ‘jamboree’ was only meant to divert people’s attention from the 17-month misrule as the government was concentrating only on capital formation, land acquisition and awarding contracts to Singapore companies and nothing else.

Referring to Mr. Naidu’s visit to the residence of his Telangana counterpart, K. Chandrasekhar Rao to extend an invitation for Amaravati foundation stone ceremony, they said one-to-one discussion raises doubts and it should come in the open as to what transpired between them.
