Sahitya Akademi Awardfor Kadapa writer

Telugu writer and critic Rachapalem Chandrasekhara Reddy (66) of Kadapa has been selected for Central Sahitya Akademi Award in Telugu for 2014.

A doctorate in Telugu, Chandrasekhara Reddy, who is presently in charge of C.P. Brown Language Research Centre in Kadapa, was chosen for the award for his book “Mana Navalalu - Mana Kathanikalu”. Born in Kuntrapakam in Chittoor district on October 16, 1948, Dr. Reddy, who is honorary State president of Jana Vignana Vedika, received the Best Manuscript Award from Telugu University in 1986-87.

Dr. Reddy penned 13 novels and 11 short stories on many topics including Rayalaseema literary movement, Dalit life, Andhra Kavitvam and Gurajada Kathanikalu. His notable works include Silpa Prabhavathi, Telugu Kavitvam, Nannayya Voravadi and Devude Baludaithe. He has been continuing as Assistant Professor of Telugu in Yogi Vemana University, even after superannuation.
