The State government would take up projects worth ₹22,000 crore to provide safe drinking water to all rural households, State Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana said on Thursday.
Reviewing the drought situation in Prakasam district along with Environment Minister Sidda Raghava Rao and district officials, he said projects worth ₹16,000 crore would be completed in the first phase in the next three years. Saying the Chandrababu Naidu government was committed to harness all available water resources, he said “Once the Godavari-Penna river linkage project costing about ₹1,00,000 crore gets completed, drought will be a thing of past in the State.”
The Nagarjunasagar project would be modernised at a cost of ₹150 crore to ensure Krishna water to tail-end areas in the district, he added.

Mr. Raghava Rao said ₹3 crore had been sanctioned for immediate drought relief work in the district. All drinking water tanks would be filled up with Krishna water to scrape through during the coming summer.
