Nearly 320 residents of Puttamrajukandriga, adopted village of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, had the rare opportunity of a special screening of the master-blaster’s biopic here on Thursday.
A team of Sachin’s representatives led by Clint organised the screening in association with the district officials.
Special buses were arranged to transport the families from the far-flung Puttamrajukandriga to the theatre. The villagers were overjoyed and kept applauding as they watched the documentary drama on the life of the legend.

District Collector R. Mutyala Raju also visited the S2 Theatre where the special screening was arranged and addressed the villagers. “You are very fortunate that your village is adopted by an international celebrity. This programme is meant to provide motivation and inspiration to you to achieve high goals in life,” he said.
Joint Collector A.Md. Intiyaz, nodal officer for the developmental activities in the village, coordinated with Sachin’s team for the screening. So far, with funds provided by Sachin and also matching grants by the district administration, ₹5.69 crore developmental work had been completed and another ₹3.05 crore work was being implemented in the surrounding hamlets.
Puttamrajukandriga was once a village without electricity and roads but now it had undergone transformation with well-paved roads having been laid to all corners of the village. During one of Sachin’s visits, the villagers made a plea for jobs to their young generation. Following this, the officials conducted job melas in the last one year during which nearly 115 persons got employment in industries located in Nellore district.
