Rural candidates excel in A.P. EdCET

Two candidates from rural areas, T. Veera Venkata Bapiraju of Visakhapatnam district and Bhallamudi Santosh Sarath of Vizianagaram district, topped the mathematics and biological sciences methodologies respectively in the Education Common Entrance Test (EdCET) 2012 ranks which were released here on Tuesday.

P.S. Sudha of Vijayawada, Koppolu Lakshminarayana of Kavali and K. Prasanna Lakshmi of Hyderabad secured first rank in physical sciences, social studies and English methodologies.

Admission into B.Ed. course is based on the EdCET rank. Nearly 45,000 out of the 60,000 seats available in the colleges of education in the State would be under the Convenor quota, Mr. Gopal said.

The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education would announce the admission counselling schedule soon, he said.

Convenor of EdCET 2012 Nimma Venkata Rao informed that 1,37,768 candidates, 77,546 of them women, appeared for the test held on June 8 all over the State. Out of them 1,36,667 (99.20 per cent) have qualified.
