A Rs.2,700-crore proposal seeking external aid from World Bank for permanent restoration of damages caused by Hudhud cyclone is being submitted to Union government.
This was stated by Finance Minister Y. Ramakrishnudu during presentation of budget for 2015-16 in the Assembly on Thursday. He said the government was planning to make Hudhud affected areas cyclone-proof through the support of World Bank by putting in place underground cabling and other infrastructure.
He said a United Nations report has estimated the loss on account of Hudhud cyclone as $ 11 billion.
