Revise old detailed project report on Mekedatu: Bommai

April 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - Bengaluru:

Expressing fear that the preparation of a fresh Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the implementation of the Mekedatu drinking water project may take a long time, BJP leader and former Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday urged the State government to revise the existing project report. Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, Mr. Bommai sought to remind the government that the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) had already prepared a DPR which included construction a balancing reservoir with a capacity of 32.1 tmc of which 16.1 tmc was meant for taking care of the drinking water requirements of Bengaluru and surrounding areas. Expressing concern that the commencement of work would be delayed by at least six months if a fresh DPR were to be prepared, he said the KPCL’s project report could be appropriately revised.
