Resentment in Congress cadres in Pinapaka

March 29, 2014 10:20 pm | Updated May 19, 2016 12:36 pm IST - KHAMMAM:

Resentment is brewing among Congress cadres in Pinapaka Assembly constituency over the alleged move of party leadership to allot the seat currently represented by the party MLA Rega Kantha Rao to the CPI as part of the prospective electoral tie-up with the latter.

Incensed over the party leadership’s reported move to allocate the seat to the CPI, the supporters of Mr Kantha Rao registered their strong dissent by taking out rallies in Pinapaka, Manuguru and other places in the constituency on Friday. A section of them even locked the entrance door of the party mandal office in Pinapaka the same evening, raising a virtual banner of revolt against the party leadership. Mandal level Congress leaders held discussions in Pinapaka on Saturday to chalk out their future of course action in the event of the party leadership denying ticket to Mr Kantha Rao. The simmering discontent among the party cadres in the constituency is likely to prove detrimental to the party’s electoral prospects in the upcoming local body and general elections.

The growing dissent among the rank and file of the party is also likely to cast its shadow on the electoral prospects of Union Minister Balram Naik, feel political observers.
