Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday directed DGP R.P. Thakur to visit each district and release a bulletin on law and order every month.
Participating in the Police Commemoration Day programme here, he said law and order was important for development and asked the police to use technology to keep tabs on anti-social elements and stop crimes.
Along with Home Minister N. Chinarajappa and the DGP, Mr. Naidu placed wreaths at the martyrs’ memorial and paid tributes to the policemen who laid down their lives in discharging their duties.

Modern facilities
To ease the burden on the force, 2,500 police constables would be recruited in Amaravati and the government would take measures for providing housing and other facilities to the personnel, he said. A policy to give promotions to constables at least once in their service would be made. Stressing on modernisation, Mr. Naidu said all police stations would have modern facilities and each one of them had at least one four-wheeler.
“If the police are strong, AP can be turned into a smart State. Criminals are using the latest technology,” he said and asked the police to act tough particularly in crimes against women. He stressed on invisible policing through drones, surveillance cameras, body own cameras and other equipment.

He blamed the Opposition party for resorting to political attacks.
The Chief Minister released a CD on the martyrs and a book ‘Amarulu Vaaru’. He announced ₹15 crore to the Police Welfare Fund.
Police Commissioner Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, L&O Addl. DG Harish Kumar Gupta, former Maharashtra cadre IPS officer V.V. Lakshminarayana and officers were among those who paid tributes to the martyrs.
