‘CM failed to extend them loan waiver, input subsidy’

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy

Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and president of YSR Congress Party Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to reach out to the farmers who are facing several problems because of the heavy rain in the State.

In a caustic letter to Mr. Naidu, the Opposition leader said the Chief Minister should act immediately if he did not want to be remembered in the pages of history as a ruler who was worse than the Roman Emperor, Nero.

He said in the letter that people were saying that “Nara rule is worse than Nero rule.”

Mr. Jagan said the farmers were dejected because Mr. Naidu failed to extend them the loan waiver and input subsidy he had promised. They were being forced to pay ordinary interest and penal interest on the loans that Mr. Naidu had promised to repay.

The highly disheartened farmers had become suicidal, Mr. Jagan charged in the letter.

Mr. Jagan further said the youth were equally disillusioned as they were unable to get employment. Students of corporate colleges were also resorting to the extreme step, he pointed out.

The Opposition leader said it was unfortunate that the Chief Minister was “fully preoccupied with felicitations, land deals, and playing host to foreign dignitaries.”
