Rayalaseema JAC agitates for separate State

Pratyeka Rayalaseema JAC (PR JAC) led by K. Siva Sankar and Viyarthi JAC leader K. Venkateswarlu staged a demonstration here on Monday demanding the creation of a separate Rayalaseema State. The protesters carrying red flags staged a huge demonstration at the Collectorate and released a charter of demands which include construction of Siddeswaram project, linking of Krishna-Tungabhadra-Pennar rivers, setting up of a super-specialty hospital for Rayalaseema, project for carrying out repairs to tanks, Rs. 165 crore for Rayalaseema University, Rs. 100 crore for SK University, industries to harness mineral wealth and Rs. 300 crore for the development of the airport at Tirupati to international standards.

The body also demanded setting up of Rayalaseema regiment in the army and separate recruitment board for the region. A demand was made for the inclusion of nomadic tribes in the SC list.

JAC leaders M. Balasundaram, B. Venkateswarlu and others addressed the rally.

Meanwhile, Degree College Teachers JAC, Teachers JAC, students of Ravindra Institutions and other organisations conducted demonstrations in support of a unified State. Students displayed inscriptions of Samaikyandhra on their hands.
