If Congress is voted to power in Telangana, it will waive farmers’ loans up to Rs. 2 lakh as against Rs. 1 lakh being promised by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said.
Addressing a well-attended public meeting at Madikonda village here on Friday, Mr. Gandhi hitting out at TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the Congress would keep its promises come what may.
“Even if sky falls, the Congress will fulfil its promise of waiving farm loans up to Rs. 2 lakh. This is election time and many parties were taking credit for the creation of Telangana state. The leaders who said something and forgot could not deliver the goods.

“Mr. KCR had come to my office and said he is with us. He went out and said he is not with Congress. It is okay with us. But if the Congress makes a promise, it will deliver it at any cost,” he said.
The new Telangana state should belong to everyone. The poorest of the poor should become part of the development. “I wish to see at the earliest, a woman Chief Minister in Telangana,” Rahul Gandhi said.
The Congress vice-president touched upon various issues starting from Telangana movement to issues in party’s manifesto. He mainly focused on TRS’s claims and its promises. Mr. Gandhi said that much before the TRS came into existence, 40 Congress MLAs espoused the cause of separate Telangana.

The Congress waited for long to fulfil the 60-year-long dream of Telangana people to sort it out in a democratic way.
