R. Rajamani, a retired civil servant and environmental expert, passed away here on Thursday following a brief illness.
Rajamani, who was a 1959 batch IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, had served in the secretariats of three Prime Ministers — Indira Gandhi, Morarji Desai and Charan Singh. An environmental expert, Rajamani had retired as Government of India’s forest & environment secretary. He served as adviser to United Nation’s environment programme and was on several panels appointed by the Supreme Court .
