Activists of the Youth Congress observed a day-long hunger-strike in front of the Prakasam Bhavan here on Monday demanding that the Chandrababu Naidu government either provide jobs to youth or unemployment allowance as promised in the TDP’s election manifesto.

Leading the protest, Youth Congress Prakasam district in-charge G.V. Raj Vimal said it was unfortunate that that the cash-strapped State government choose to enhance the salaries of legislators.

But it failed to provide succour to the youth who had been waiting for two long years for Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to either show them jobs or provide Rs. 2,000 as unemployment allowance, he said.
