: Shanthini Kapoor, Principal Secretary (Special Programme Implementation) to the State government, and two others were killed in an accident on the Krishnagiri-Dharmapuri Highway on Wednesday. Two of her relatives sustained injuries.

The official was travelling along with her family members in a car from Chennai to Bengaluru. The car lost control near the Chennai Bypass Road and the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation Hotel in Krishnagiri. The car rammed a barricade and collided with a lorry. It swerved 360 degrees and halted at the concrete median, facing the same direction it had come from.

The two others killed were identified as Richard Christie, the official’s brother-in-law, and V. Selvaraj, a Special Sub-Inspector of Police, who was driving the vehicle. Ms Kapoor’s sister Patricia (45), and niece Anna Christina (20) were rushed to a private hospital in Bengaluru.
