Focus on detection of criminals and safety of children

The Tirupati (Urban) police have, for the first time, decided to take maximum advantage of technology during the annual Brahmotsavams.

The police have resolved to make use of the fingerprint identification and networking system to identify criminals, if any, among the devotees.

Briefing the media on Thursday, Tirupati (Urban) SP Abhishek Mohanty said that safety tags with information like name, age and phone number would be given to children at Tirupati and at select places in the hill town. This would enable police personnel to track them in case children get lost in the crowd. Photographs of the children would also be taken to make use of the facial recognition technology.

Application

The department has also developed an application with the assistance of the TTD to enable the pilgrims to get an idea about the availability of space at various identified parking lots.

About 2,700 police personnel have been deputed for the entire Brahmotsavam period. This apart, 1,000 personnel would be drafted additionally for the Garuda seva.
