Orders pertaining to new names to come to force on May 17

Administrative convenience: The Three Town police station in Nellore has been renamed as Santhapeta police station.

In an attempt to cater to the law and order needs of the growing Nellore city and its suburbs, the police authorities have redefined the jurisdiction of the existing six police station.

In the past two decades, the Nellore city has grown in leaps and bounds with the rampant migration from the rural areas in the district and the mushrooming of industrial units and a port within the 40 km perimeter of the core city.

To ensure law and order in an effective way, orders have been issued for redrawing of the boundaries of all the police stations. And at the same time, their nomenclature will also be changing. .

However, there has been no change in the status and functioning of six police stations located in Nellore city and its peripheral rural parts. As part of the move, the names like One Town and Two Town police stations will be a passé.

Jurisdictions redefined

In official records, the One Town police station will be called Chinnabazar police station from May 17. In addition to this, the officials have redrawn the jurisdiction boundaries too as part of which some areas such as Putta Estate, Rajiv Gruhakalpa and etc will be separated from the purview of Nellore Rural police station and included into the Chinnabazar police station.

Similarly, the Two Town police station will be called as Nawabpeta police station henceforth with the new areas under its jurisdiction such as Venkateswarapuram, Janardhan Reddy Colony, Parameswarinagar and etc.

The new names of other police stations are Santhapeta (for Three Town), Dargamitta (for Four Town), Vedayapalem (for Five Town) and Balajinagar (for Six Town).

Quicker access

According to officials, the redefining of the jurisdiction is expected to help people and complainants identify the police stations concerned easily during emergency.

Moreover, the new system helps group the respective places which have quicker access in terms of road connectivity.

As Nellore city has developed over the years on either side of the main railway track, the redrawing of boundaries had become necessary to ensure effective administration and functioning.
