The YSR Congress Party has demanded that the Andhra Pradesh State Government maintain transparency in its dealings relating to capital city construction by placing the documents relating to the new capital in public domain.
The party wanted the State to comply with the Central Government’s policy guidelines on partnerships with private sector in the light of the proposals to involve the Singaporean agencies in infrastructure development. Transparency in the deals was necessitated as a signatory to the memorandum of understanding signed by the Singapore Government reportedly quit his post to join as the CEO of the two firms that acquired contracts, senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana said.
The Government should place the records in the public domain and explain as to how a signatory on behalf of the Singapore Government could become the CEO of the companies that bagged the contract. He expressed concern over such commercial manipulations, which would lead to massive corruption and people ought to know the details of the deals.

“We (the YSRC) are not against the construction of the capital. We are against the manipulative practices and commercial agenda aimed at benefiting a favoured few leaving aside farmers whose land had been acquired,” he said.
He recalled that the Central Government had made it mandatory for taking up public private partnership deals through global tenders. The State Government could not ignore the Centre’s directives and opt for the Swiss Challenge method.
