Though the Governor and Chancellor of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences E. S. L. Narasimhan has ordered for re-examination of the AP PGMET on April 27, post the unearthing of irregularities and alleged leak of question papers, it has put the PG aspirants in a fix, especially those who have applied for Manipal University and COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka).
Manipal University has about 200 PG seats and it is learnt that 170 of them have been taken by students from AP who have also written the PGMET. The first counselling for Manipal is already over and the students have paid the first instalment fee of Rs. 12 lakh, said AP Junior Doctor’s Association member Kranti Kumar.
It is regular process for top rankers from AP to apply for other institutes such as Manipal and pay the fee. But after securing a good rank in PGMET they normally give up the Manipal seat before the second counselling and get back the full refund.

But this year, NTRUHS announced the date for PGMET re-examination as April 27, and the last date for withdrawal from Manipal is April 21. “If a student cancels his/her seat before April 21, they will get back the fee in full. Beyond that date they will have to forgo 50 per cent of the fee amount,” said Mr. Kumar. The PG aspirants met V-C of the university T. Ravi Raju and requested him to either hold the examination before April 20 or ask the Governor to talk to the management of Manipal to extend the last date for cancellation.
