The Majlis part threatened to launch a massive agitation if the government decided to make Hyderabad a Union Territory or permanent capital after the bifurcation of the State.
Reacting to the statements of a few leaders from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, who suggested such a move, Majlis party president Asaduddin Owaisi warned the government against entertaining any such designs.
Mr. Owaisi was speaking at a public meeting organized at Khilwath playground here on Saturday night. “Hyderabad belonged to all and people irrespective of their nativity or region can securely stay in the city. It is a part of India and all those staying here are ‘Hyderabadis’. No one can ask you to go away from here,” he said.

Referring to the recent incidents of communal violence across the country, Mr. Owaisi said all the secular parties should chalk out proper strategies to counter the growing activities of saffron organizations. “It is the need of the hour and failure to do so at this stage will result in a grave loss to the nation,” the Hyderabaad MP remarked.
He further warned the Telugu Desam Party against entering into any electoral alliance with the Bhartiya Janata Party. “The results of such a deal were visible in 2009 elections and it should be a lesson for the (TDP) party,” he said.
Taking a dig at the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, Mr. Owaisi said that the Majlis was ready for a debate with him on any issue.
