‘This is the best time to strengthen Telugu Desam Party’

Telugu Desam Party national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said there was no strong opposition in the State.

Addressing a workshop organised for party MLAs, MPs and MLCs here on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu said the YSR Congress Party and its leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed to provide leadership. Mr. Jagan was accused in many cases and cannot escape punishment. The TDP had a fair chance of strengthening itself at this juncture, he said.

There used to be intellectuals in every political party. Likewise, youth used to get attracted to naxalism. Many who pursued engineering and medicine courses joined naxalite movement. But now, the youth were career-oriented and not interested in such activities. The political parties too lacked ideologies these days, he said.

Mr. Naidu said that the party has to be strong in every constituency and village. The cadre and every worker should work with dedication and a sense of belonging. But some were interested only in bagging contracts, he added.

The party had chalked out plans to organise Intintiki TDP from October 30 for 60 days, he said.
