“The party appreciates the hard work and contribution of Shri Digvijaya Singh, who will be stepping down from his responsibility as AICC General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh,” said a statement issued by party general secretary Ashok Gehlot.
Though Mr. Singh has been relieved of all the States (earlier he was removed from Goa after the fiasco following the Assembly elections last year), last week he was appointed chairman of the coordination committee for Madhya Pradesh, which is going to the polls later this year.
Mr. Gogoi, son of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, has been put in charge of West Bengal with immediate effect.
