On a mission

June 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:59 am IST - TIRUPATI:

2 youngsters to skate all the way to Amaravathi

Akula Yesha, eight-year-old girl pursuing fourth grade at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s (BVB) Sri Venkateswara Vidyalaya, will be embarking on an ambitious ordeal of her life. On June 2 (Tuesday), Yesha will begin her journey to Amaravati, the upcoming capital city of Andhra Pradesh, by skating all the way from the temple city of Tirupati.

Last year since the State bifurcation on June 2, little Yesha has been saving whatever she could financially, to contribute her part for the construction of the new capital. “For the past one year, I have quit chocolates, ice creams and other goodies to save money and contribute the same to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, in the presence of Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, during the scheduled ‘Bhoomi pooja’ ceremony of the new capital on June 6,” she said, while speaking to The Hindu.

Yesha will be joined by another eight-year-old boy G. Devisri Prasad, who has agreed to accompany her on the journey spanning more than 450 km.
