Oil companies told to adopt villages

The Special Officers of the respective mandal, where public and private companies are engaged in exploration of natural gas and oil in Krishna district, have been asked to persuade oil companies to adopt villages in their operational area.

Krishna District Collector Babu.A here on Monday has directed to the special officers to speed up the process by contacting the managements of the companies –Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Gas Authority of India Limited and Reliance and others. In Krishna-Godavari basin, Kriuthivennu, Bantumilli and Diviseema area covering Koduru, Avanigadda and Nagayalanka mandals are falling in Krishna district where exploration of natural gas and oil is being allowed by the government.

“We must ensure the public that each company should adopt the villages in their operational area. The Special Officer should held responsibility of consulting the management of the companies to adopt the villages,” said Mr. Babu. The Collector also highlighted that the rural infrastructure such as developing road connectivity and other facilities would be improved once the villages were adopted.

The Special Officers were also told to prepare a list of villages that were eligible to be adopted by the listed companies which were permitted for oil exploration.
