October 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - Hyderabad:

A Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Justice R.Subhash Reddy and Justice A.Shankara Narayana on Wednesday directed the Dr NTR University of Health Sciences to take steps to fill the A and B category seats in Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences which received the final permission on September 30. This admission process must be completed by October 20.

The Bench was not ready to accept the plea of the college that B category management seats are already filled.

These orders were passed in a batch of writ petitions filed by six students. They complained that the college filled management quota seats within 18 hours and the convenor quota seats are not filled.

They sought a direction to the authorities to fill the A and B category seats. The university said that it has sought an explanation from the college in filling up 75 seats without the notice to the convener as per rules. It may be recalled that the order of Medical Council of India (MCI) rejecting permission was set aside by the Delhi High Court which directed to fill the 150 seats. The Hyderabad High Court now directed to fill the seats by October 20 and the students are to be informed that the admission was subject to further orders.
