At a time when the government has set the ball rolling for a preliminary exercise for apportioning government employees between the Telangana and the residuary States, Director General of Police B. Prasada Rao has said that such process is yet to begin in the Police Department.
“We did not get any directions from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs over the division of Police forces and infrastructure between Telangana and the successor State,” the DGP told the media on the sidelines of inauguration of a Police auditorium in Nalgonda district on Thursday,
However, he said that they had kept all the records ready to complete the sharing of forces and infrastructure to speed up the division of Police personnel working at all the levels in the two new States.

The preparedness of State Police Department, he said, would make the job of sharing of force easy once the directives were received. However, he stated that they would follow the directions of the Centre in dividing the forces.
Referring to the coming elections, the DGP said that Police Department was well prepared for facing the general polls.
Stating that he, along with Chief Secretary, Chief Electoral Officer Andhra Pradesh and others, had attended a meeting convened by Secretary of Union Ministry of Home Affairs over the State’s preparedness for polls.

The DGP said they had identified over 35,000 polling booths as sensitive out of nearly 70,000 booths in the State.
“We are making special arrangements to deal with these polling booths and help the Election Commission of India to conduct the elections peacefully,” he said.
Responding to a query, the DGP said that they would release the results of recruitment to sub-inspector posts soon, which were pending since long owing to legal battles.

The DGP inaugurated a new police auditorium named after the slain TDP leader and former Home Minister Alimineti Madhava Reddy here on Thursday. The well-designed massive auditorium construed in the heart of town and it was meant for both the police and public. However, a committee will be constituted to oversee the maintenance of auditorium which will also be open for organising seminars, departmental meetings, marriages and others. The money earned will be deposited in the Police Welfare Society’s account which would be spent exclusively for the children of police martyrs. The project worth Rs. 3 crore was initiated in 2000 by MP Gutha Sukendar Reddy.
