No scope for change of guard till polls: Diwakar Reddy

May 07, 2013 04:17 pm | Updated June 08, 2016 03:45 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Former Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy has ruled out scope for change in the guard in the State before 2014 general elections.

He asserted that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy would continue in the post till the elections next year. The comment assumes significance in the light of reports that several Ministers were unhappy with the “unilateral” functioning of the Chief Minister and were gearing up to take the issue to the notice of the party leadership in Delhi.

Mr. Diwakar Reddy refused to comment when asked about Endowments Minister C. Ramachandraiah’s remark that Union Minister K. Chiranjeevi had the necessary qualities to lead the party and take over the top post. “It may be his (Mr. Ramachandraiah’s) personal view, but Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy will continue till the next elections,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ministers N. Raghuveera Reddy and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy called on AP Congress Committee president Botcha Satyanarayana and held discussions with him. Emerging out of the meeting, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said the meeting was routine interaction with the State party president and that there was no political significance attached to it. Responding to queries, he said there was no truth in reports that he was “uncomfortable” in the present Cabinet.
