The TTD’s Executive Officer Dr. D. Sambasiva Rao on Tuesday directed the engineering officials to explore the feasibility of constructing a multi-purpose complex for pilgrims reaching the sacred town on foot.
Reviewing a high-level meeting with heads of various departments at Annamaiah Bhavan, Dr. Rao suggested that the proposed complex should be akin to the waiting hall recently constructed for the benefit of the Rs.300 special-entry darshan ticket-holders.
He urged the officials to suggest a couple of places that would be best suitable for the footpath complex in meeting the requirements of the trekking pilgrims.

To enhance transparency in the allotment of cottages and guest houses at Tirumala, he urged the officials of both the Information Technology (IT) wing of the TTD as well as the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to develop a new application wherein the accommodation can be provided for a minimum of six hours and its multiples. This will enable the management to keep track of the entire accommodation process, have instant and authentic information about the actual vacancy position of the cottages and address any problems that might arise. The TTD management is all set to develop sandalwood plantation in 88 hectares of land during the year. This is in addition to the eight acres of plantation grown last year.
The Executive Officer, who undertook a visit to the sandalwood estates at Parvet mandapam on Tuesday, urged Deputy Conservator of Forests Sivaram Prasad to come up with an action plan.
