Union Minister of Law and Justice Salman Khurshid has observed that the emergence of novel dynamics of decision-making in democracy, witnessed recently in Parliament's historic response to the civil society movement, calls for redefining new politico-legal process of governance.
In his address at the ninth convocation of NALSAR University of Law here on Saturday, Mr. Khurshid said it was for legal academics, researchers, and judicial luminaries to analyse the developments and elucidate and evolve new legal processes in such a challenging backdrop. The challenge of bridging conventional notions of law-making with pluralistic stirrings of an ancient nation with young population was no less than battle for freedom, he said.

“An effective linkage between the law schools, bar, and the Bench was imperative to ensure that common people are able to enjoy their constitutional and legislative rights to the fullest extent,” Mr. Khurshid said. Designing a mentoring system of exposing good practices of National Law Schools to other colleges could be one such effort in that direction, he said.
Disposal of cases
He suggested the young graduates to respond with how to connect, correct, and collate the aspirations and anguish of the people into a structurally strong and sustainable governance system.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy called for existence of a system where disposal of cases would be very swift as it would help in bringing down crime rate and ensure peace in society. The State government was inviting more institutions of repute to Hyderabad to make it the knowledge and education capital of India.
Economic barriers
Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, who is also Chancellor of NALSAR, Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru remarked that economic barriers in universities were threatening the quality of education. He stressed the need for autonomy to varsities terming sanctuaries of life.
Vice-Chancellor of the Law University Veer Singh highlighted the achievement of NALSAR's students and faculty. Home Minister P. Sabita India Reddy, Minister for Law and Courts E. Pratap Reddy, Registrar of NALSAR Madabhusi Sridhar and others participated.
