Andhra Pradesh Film, Television and Theatre Corporation Chairman Ambica Krishna on Tuesday said the Nandi awards function would be held here in the month of December.
Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Krishna said the function would be a two-day affair as awards for television and theatre would also be presented on the same stage. He said the function assumes significance as Nandi awards will be celebrating golden jubilee.
He said the Nandi awards function had not been not held for the past four years (since 2013- 2014) as the State was passing through difficult times over the bifurcation issue.

Expert panel
“An expert panel with veteran film personalities like Geetanjali, Prabha, Giribabu and other technicians as members will view 70-odd films and submit its recommendations,” he said.
On development of film-making craft in the new State of Andhra Pradesh, he said film-makers still preferred Hyderabad as it possessed world-class infrastructure and suitable ecosystem.

“The Andhra region is yet to witness a spurt in film infrastructure. It will take some time. Meanwhile, we are encouraging small budget movie makers to use the available facilities in A.P.,” he said.
Small budget movies
He said a good number of films are made with a budget of less than ₹2 crore every year. “Late veteran movie maker Rama Naidu had constructed studio on a hillock in Vizag but film-making is yet to gather momentum,” he added.
Mr. Krishna said the city of Vijayawada would soon get studios of dubbing, recording, re-recording and other special effects.
“These facilities require less investment and the corporation will primarily concentrate on establishing them before taking up promotion of film-making in a full-fledged manner in the new capital city,” he pointed out.
Institutions
He said efforts were on to encourage establishment of institutions for imparting knowledge connected to cinema and television industries and encourage growth of theatre arts in the State.
