Naidu seeks action against KVP

April 25, 2014 10:17 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 07:18 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu has requested Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to take immediate action for the provisional arrest of Congress MP Dr. K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao in the titanium mining scam.

In a latter addressed to the Governor on Friday, Mr. Naidu invited the latter’s attention to the red corner notice issued by the Interpol-Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for his arrest in connection with his role in the titanium mining scam in Andhra Pradesh in which some US companies were also involved. Further, he stated that the notice was reportedly communicated to the State Police Department already.

Citing media reports, Mr. Naidu alleged that the Government of India was trying to shield Dr. Rao showing trivial reasons. Stating that Dr. Rao’s association (involvement) with the corrupt practices of former Chief Minister late Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was well-known. Mr. Naidu alleged that Dr. Rao had been a conduit to the Congress party for “collection of bribes from contractors who were given generous dole outs in the form of grant of SEZs, mining licenses and others”.

It was a matter of shame that a MP from the State was involved in the scam of mining titanium from the beach sand in the north coast of AP. Mr. Naidu said Dr. Rao was responsible for bringing disrepute to the Government of AP. He stressed the need for deterrent action to leave a strong message to the future generations against not getting involved in such blatant misuse of authority.
