Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday gave a clarion call to the Non Resident Telugus (NRTs) to actively participate in the political and social activities in the countries they reside.
Mr. Naidu was speaking after laying the foundation stone for ‘iCON’ tower being constructed by the APNRT Society here at an estimated cost of ₹500 crore.
The Chief Minister said the Telugus residing abroad should mingle with the community there and take part in social service activities, and bring laurels to their motherland.

“Our emblem should be visible everywhere,” he said.
Investment opportunity
At the same time, they should not forget their roots and motherland. They have to visit their ‘janmabhoomi’ (native village) at least once in an year on festivals such as Sankranti. The NRTs were expected to invest and develop their motherland too, Mr. Naidu said.

Jews was the only community dictating the business and economy across the globe. Telugus should take a leaf out of their success, emulate them, and become successful entrepreneurs, Mr. Naidu exhorted.
‘Good trend’
Of late, the NRTs were turning into entrepreneurs, which was a good trend. The per capita income of Telugus at Silicon Valley was more than others there.
They need to come up with unique ideas and invest in Andhra Pradesh too. The government would support them, Mr. Naidu said.
