MPs from KGPG region upbeat

They say State is committed to development of the region. Besides, the apex industry body wanted institutions like the Central Food Technology Research Institute to be brought to A.P to play a catalytic role in industrial growth.

Exuding confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Krishna-Guntur-Prakasam-West Godavari (KGPG) corridor stressed the need for round-the-clock power supply and development of Machilipatnam port to spur industrial growth.

They asserted that achieving a higher growth trajectory will not be difficult under the stable regime that is in place.

On its part, the CII has, at a roundtable with MPs from KGPG region held here on Friday, suggested to the MPs to get an ‘infra-ready industrial area’ of 2,000 acres carved out in each one of the 13 districts for attracting anchor industries and a larger number of ancillary units.

Addressing the meeting, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas said the governments at the Centre and in the State were supportive of the plans that investors have for Andhra Pradesh and the MPs were committed to do their best for speedy transformation of the State on par with other progressive ones.

24/7 power supply

Due emphasis was laid on 24/7 power supply which was crucial for the industries to sustain their production and eventually scale up their businesses, he stated and added that the Machilipatnam port work would begin soon.

Narsapuram MP Gokaraju Gangaraju urged the industry to focus more on exports and reducing dependence on imports and expressed the need for promoting research and development institutes in the KGPG region in collaboration with foreign companies.

Narsaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao briefed industrialists about the opportunities available in sectors such as tourism, food processing and textiles in Guntur district and claimed that the Buckingham canal would be made navigable in the near future.

CII A.P Chairman and Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Srinivasa Hatcheries Limited, Suresh Chitturi highlighted the importance of fast-tracking the National Investment and Manufacturing Zones and Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial corridor.

CII Vijayawada Zone Chairman V.V.M. Krishna said an ‘actionable blue-print’ on development of KGPG corridor was made available to the industrialists who were expected to tap the emerging opportunities.
