Though it was extremely hot in the last two days in the Visakhapatnam, moist winds made the weather bearable. However, temperatures there too are expected to rise during the next two to three days in the city.
The other places in the State where high temperatures were recorded include: Tirupati 43, Nellore 43 and Tuni (East Godavari) 41 degrees C, a spokesman of the Cyclone Warning Centre in Vizag said. Visakhapatnam itself remained less warm, with its airport recording 37 degrees C on Wednesday. Met staff attributed the sudden spike in temperatures to westerly winds blowing over coastal AP south of Kakinada, which sucked up the moisture and raised temperatures above the 40 degrees C level south.
Officials urged people not to move on the roads during the day time as temperatures are likely rise higher in the next few days. “People have to take utmost care and go to the nearest hospital immediately if they are affected by sunstroke. We have advised all primary health centres to be prepared to quick relief to victims,” said Srikakulam DRO Venkata Rao.

A curfew-like situation prevailed in Srikakulam town and many rural parts of the district as people stayed indoors. Summer heat had been tolerable in the town until May 15 as temperatures hovered between 32 to 35 degrees Celsius but soared in the past few days.
There were long queues at air-conditioned theatres in Srikakulam town on Wednesday.
