Naidu asks KCR to prove sincerity on SCS to A.P.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu participating in an election campaign at Tiruvuru in Krishna district on Monday.

Chief Minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of acting like ‘chowkidar of Mr. (Jagan Mohan) Reddy.’ Addressing an election rally at Tiruvuru on Monday, Mr. Naidu said the latter did not deserve to be re-elected.

He said the Polavaram project would serve as ‘Reserve Bank of Water’ for Andhra Pradesh, and not as an ‘ATM’ as alleged by the Prime Minister.

Seeking to put Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on the defensive, the TDP supremo challenged him to declare his support for the Special Category Status to A.P. by writing a letter to the Centre. Mr. Naidu’s remarks assume importance in the wake of Mr. Jagan’s assertion that he would achieve the SCS with the support of Mr. KCR.

Mr. Naidu also asked the TS Chief Minister to withdraw the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court over sharing of water in the Nagarjuna Sagar project.

“The State government plans to complete the Chintalapudi irrigation project by year-end despite problems created by Telananga over sharing of Godavari water,” he said. He promised to address the issues of kidney ailments and drinking water problem in western Krishna.

The Pamarru constituency would be developed on the lines of Kuppam, he said. “Pamarru is my wife’s hometown. It’s also part of the Amaravati region. It will benefit from all the major projects in the State – Amaravati, Polavaram and Machilipatnam port.”

Targeting Mr. Jagan, the CM said: “ He has never visited Amaravati. He did not even include it in his manifesto.”

Seeking to woo Muslims, Mr. Naidu promised to make a person from the community Deputy Chief Minister.

He appealed to the voters to consider him as their candidate in all the constituencies, be it Assembly or Lok Sabha, and vote accordingly.
