The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has urged the TRS leadership to give up the idea, if any, to align with the NDA coalition led by the “communal BJP.”

MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi made the request while participating in the debate on the passage of the SC/ST Sub Plan Bill, 2012, in the Legislative Assembly on Sunday. He appreciated the concern expressed by TRS deputy leader T. Harish Rao towards the plight of the minorities that was followed by the demand for allocation of Rs.5,000 crore budget for the welfare of minorities. But, the TRS leadership, which expressed solidarity with the suffering minorities, should refrain from the reported tilt it has shown towards the BJP-led NDA which is responsible for bringing down the Babri Masjid,” he said. Mr. Harish Rao, however, clarified that TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao had been championing the cause of secularism since the beginning of his political career.
