MCI sanctions additional 300 MBBS seats

Medical Council of India (MCI) has sanctioned an additional 300 seats to Andhra Pradesh, taking the total number of MMBS seats sanctioned this year to 800—500 in government colleges and 300 in private institutions.

Disclosing this here on Tuesday, Health Minister, Kamineni Srinivasa Rao said the additional sanction was due to efforts of the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister for Urban Development, M. Venkaiah Naidu.

Following the minister’s intervention, the NTR Health University has agreed to provide dental college seat in PG to Ms. Praveena Naik, a Telangana student, who petitioned the Chief Minister about the injustice done to her by NTR Health University.

Regarding the demand of private managements for increasing the fee for MBBS course, he said the government would take a decision soon on the issue.
