Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s statement at the Telugu Language Day here on Thursday is being interpreted to mean that he has come to the conclusion not to remain as head of the government when Andhra Pradesh is formally bifurcated.
He had already expressed this desire to the Congress high command at the beginning of this month and publicly expressed his resentment against the CWC’s decision to bifurcate the State without addressing issues relating to water, power, employment and the status of Hyderabad. He echoed what he said at his press conference on August 8 that “these issues need solutions. We cannot create bigger problems in our anxiety to create new States.” Sources said Mr. Reddy, who is under pressure from the Congress high command to fall in line, may not oblige the leadership.
On the other hand, he may carry out his threat after the resolution for creation of separate Telangana is discussed in the Assembly. These developments may take place in the month of October, the sources added.
