The CPI(M) leader says that capitalist regimes are witnessing an uprising

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member B.V. Raghavulu on Sunday said Marxism had remained the only alternative and sustainable political philosophy for the world even after 100 years of the October revolution in Russia even as the “world was witnessing an uprising against the capitalist governments”.

Speaking at the birth centenary celebrations of senior Communist leader V.K. Adinarayana Reddy at the Lalita Kala Parishad here, Mr. Raghuavulu said the dream of Karl Max to emancipate workers around the world had remained a dream in the face of the unbridled and bludgeoning nature of capitalism across the world. Coming to Anantapur district being one of the least developed parts of the country, he attributed the reasons for it to the sometimes overt and often covert capitalist policies of the governments.

“Anantapur has country’s largest installed wind and solar power capacities. But not a single rupee or a single unit of electricity is used for the development of this district. So is the case with the mines and land given away to corporates,” he said referring to the Obulapuram iron ore mines and the Lepakshi knowledge hub.

However Mr. Raghavulu conspicuously didn’t refer to the fervent appeal of CPI leader Narayana on the “historical necessity for the unification of Left parties” at any point.

Mr. Narayana paid glowing tributes to Adinarayana Reddy for propounding the possibility of bringing Krishna water to the district.

Speaking to the press earlier, Mr. Narayana accused the State government of trying to cheat the people by promising to complete the Polavaram project by 2018 while “nothing was effectively happening”.

On Rajasthan government’s orders barring media from naming any person accused of corruption before a probe is sanctioned against the person by the government, Mr. Narayana said the orders were clearly against the spirit of ‘right to expression’ and freedom of press guaranteed by the Constitution.
