The Karimnagar police have foiled Maoists’ attempts to revive party activities in the district with the arrest of three persons, including a militant, and recovery of huge quantity of ammunition and Rs. 16 lakh in cash from their possession.
Disclosing this to newsmen here on Tuesday, Karimnagar DSP J. Rama Rao said that on credible information, the rural police arrested the militant, Botla Rajendra Kumar (48) of Cheelapur village of Bejjanki mandal, Sunil Kumar (53), an illegal arms dealer from Kanpur, and his assistant Vikas Kumar (31), from the railway station here and recovered the ammunition and the cash.
He said the militant had met the Maoists in Mulugu of Warangal district and promised to buy ammunition.

Accordingly, the Maoists had given him the address of the arms and also cash. The militant had struck a deal with the trader under which payment would be made only after delivery of the ammunition. The trader and his assistant transported the consignment in train and were handing it over to the militant when the police arrested them.
