Man’s ‘explosive threat’ to wife creates a flutter

Tension prevailed at Englishpalem area in Machilipatnam in Krishna district on Wednesday when a man reportedly planted explosive material in the house in which his wife was and their two children were living. On receiving a call from the local people, the police led by Bandar Deputy Superintendent of Police Mehboob Basha rushed to the spot and seized the explosive material that is used in the firecrackers.

The police later defused the explosive material.

According to police, K. Chandra Sekhar, 2, a daily wage worker had planted a bunch of explosive materials. Sekhar and his wife, Suguna, have been reportedly living separately for four years allegedly following family disputes.

Recently, the couple argued over rights on the immovable property belonging to Sekhar. Suguna works as a domestic help.

“Sekhar planned to threaten his wife by planting the explosive materials. He had earlier warned of eliminating her over their disputes. On Wednesday, some explosive materials that are used in making firecrackers went off, but no one was injured,” Mr. Basha said.

A case has been registered and investigation is on, the police said.
