A 25-year-old man was convicted and sentenced to life by Prakasam Principal District Judge M.G. Priyadarshini on Tuesday for kidnapping and murdering his niece here in November 2014.
The judge upheld the prosecution argument that the man K. Lakshminarayana abducted and strangled to death the 19-month-old baby and set the body ablaze in a secluded place on the city outskirts to erase evidence.
Mr. B. Ravichandra, then I Town Circle Inspector, who investigated the case, said after intense interrogation, the man, who lodged a baby missing girl case, spilled the beans.
