Man refuses to climb down the mobile tower

A day after climbing a 100-feet BSNL Mobile tower at Vasavi Nagar, 40-year old Mamillapalli Sanjeev Rao refuses to climb down keeping his family, police and the curious onlookers tense.

The fire personnel have begun preparations to bring him down, but quite surprisingly, the relatives of the man have been protesting any moves to talk to him or bring him down. Five persons who were supporting him have now began climbing up the tower, but the man was unrelenting.

Mr. Sanjeev Rao, a native of Nellore District, caused a stir on Saturday afternoon when he climbed the 100 feet mobile tower on Guntur-Mangalagiri Road.

Mr. Rao has been demanding that the Centre accord special status to Andhra Pradesh immediately. Police said that he has a bag with some water bottles and some food, a mobile phone.

Surprisingly, his family members, including his brother and mother have been giving support to him and have spoken to media persons several times since Saturday.

Each time, the police and fire service personnel, make an effort to bring him down, the man threatens to jump down.
