Lone tusker strikes fear in Ramakuppam

February 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - CHITTOOR:

After a lull of one month, the people of forest fringe village abutting Koundinya wildlife sanctuary in Ramakuppam mandal are once again in the grip of tension with the return of a lone elephant to their fields, damaging crops.

A lone elephant was spotted moving along crops of the sanctuary villages in the first week of January and the animal crossed into Tamil Nadu after Sankrant.

The elephant had held up traffic on the Kuppam-Krishnagiri road, and in another episode, an APSRTC driver had to reverse the bus to avoid the menacing movement of the elephant.
