After two decades of its launch as a people’s organisation which subsequently became a political party, the Lok Satta movement here on Sunday launched what it called ‘Lok Satta 2.0’ outlining its plans to showcase people’s problems and take them up at the highest level in the corridors of power in New Delhi.
After a day-long brainstorming session, the LS founder president Jayaprakash Narayan said they were in the process of developing a citizen’s charter, while also incorporating a chapter on the kind of promises that political parties made, before elections and how they were given a go-by once they came to power. A 30-member preparatory team was also being constituted for the purpose, he said.
Among other issues, he spoke of the movement’s initiatives to showcase the need for better measures by the government – both Centre and State – specifically on health and education fronts, reiterating how basic healthcare and education were a birthright of all citizens.

On April 23, a national roundtable will be organised in Delhi, he said, after which representatives of the movement have an appointment to make a presentation before the NITI Aayog.
On June 12, a convention for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together would be held in Hyderabad, he said.
