Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma on Tuesday claimed that the movie Lakshmi’s NTR was based on truth that happened in the life of N.T. Rama Rao, and which “I believed strongly and researched upon”.

Mr. Varma made a surprise visit to Palamaner town, 40 km from here, on Tuesday, accompanied by YSR Congress Party local leader Rakesh Reddy, who was announced as the producer of Lakshmi’s NTR .

Later addressing the media at the producer’s residence, Mr. Varma said

Comparing NTR’s life with the “Mahabharat”, the filmmaker said he would be dealing with just “one chapter” of the many from the epic. He observed that the film would limit the subject from the point when NTR’s wife Lakshmi Parvathi entered the leader’s life till his death.

Asked whether Lakshmi’s NTR would include the “Viceroy Hotel” episode and role of N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Varma evaded a direct response, saying not all people might be knowing about everything that happened.

“The depiction would primarily include the mental torture experienced by NTR at this crucial stage. The material for the movie is based on a plethora of sources and versions of people who played vital role during the period. I want to present what happened 20 years ago just as it has happened now. I had selected the subject that I have understood and that I have felt differently,” he said.

Replying to a question whether he would be ready to take actor Balakrishna in the proposed biopic on NTR, Mr. Varma said he would not think of it. “My film Lakshmi’s NTR is apt to my thinking and my intuition.” He said his film had nothing to do with any political party and was not intended to attack any particular individual. “When it comes to a film, it might be viewed by different people from different viewpoints and with many variations in perceptions,” he said.

Meanwhile, in his latest Facebook post about Pawan Kalyan, RGV called him “unimaginably cute”.
