Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu condemns suspension of 16 Seemandhra MPs

Vijayawada Central MLA and Congress leader Malladi Vishnu said that the resignation of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was almost certain and only the date was awaited.

Talking to The Hindu after inaugurating the new Ajith Singh Nagar police station here on Friday, he said “Deciding the date for CM’s resignation is his prerogative, but we are sure it will happen shortly.”

On whether Mr. Kiran would start a new party and whether Mr. Vishnu join in it, the MLA gave a diplomatic answer, “There are certain key issues to be resolved. We are keeping all options open and it will be known very shortly.”

Mr. Vishnu made light of the pepper spray issue of Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal in Parliament on Thursday, and supported the MP’s move.

“He (Rajgopal) has already stated that he used the spray in self-defence and I think it was justified in that context. We should appreciate that he stood his ground for a united Andhra Pradesh. But I condemn the suspension of the 16 Seemandhra MPs and am upset by the way the party high command had dealt with it,” he said.
