KCR bargains for Chief Minister’s post?

March 15, 2014 01:25 pm | Updated May 23, 2016 03:57 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao had sent feelers to the Congress high command that he wanted to become Chief Minister of Telangana if he were to merge his party with the Congress.

This was the view that emerged at an informal get-together with AICC general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh Digvijay Singh after a press meet here on Friday.

In response to questions earlier, however, Mr. Singh said that Mr. Rao had not directly broached the issue of chief ministership with the Congress high command.

Asked if Mr. Rao broke away because he was not happy with the bifurcation Bill, he said Mr. Rao was fully satisfied with the content of the legislation.

Mr. Singh discounted media surveys that the BJP would surge ahead of the Congress the Lok Sabha seats. He pointed out the surveys were based on small samples.
