‘Quota for the poor announced by Centre of no help to us’

Representatives of the Kapu Joint Action Committee (KJAC) from all the 13 districts would meet at Kathipudi in East Godavari district on January 31 to discuss the future course of action on the reservations issue.

Garjana anniversary

The meeting would also coincide with the third anniversary of the ‘Kapu Aikya Garjana’ organised at Tuni, which turned violent with the torching of the Ratnachal Express.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, KJAC leaders Akula Ramakrishna and Vasireddi Yesudasu wondered why the State government could not extend reservation to the Kapus in the last five years.

The Centre, on the other hand, could extend 10% reservation to the economically weaker sections within no time, they said.

BC ‘F’ status

“There is a misconception that the Kapus will be benefited from the Centre’s reservation. We want to be categorized as BC ‘F’ and we will continue our agitation till we achieve it,” they said, adding the reservation issue would be discussed during the State-level meeting.

‘TDP deceived us’

“The State government has deceived us in the name of reservation. We are not ready to be fooled by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu again,” they said, alleging that Mr. Naidu lacked sincerity in the implementation of his poll promises.

“Unfortunately, the BJP and the Jana Sena Party too are maintaining silence over the issue. These parties forged an alliance with the TDP and assured us reservation during the 2014 elections,” they said.
