Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) will hold its three-day State conference, the first after bifurcation, in Ongole from Saturday as part of its efforts to popularise science.
“We will review our work during the last two years and chalk out programmes to fight social evils like superstition and female foeticide by misusing pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic techniques,” JVV Prakasam district vice-president A.V. Pulla Rao said.
JVV, which was formed in 1988 after the Bhopal gas tragedy, successfully led literacy campaigns, fought introduction of genetically-modified crops and dispelled superstitions by holding magic shows in remote areas, conference reception committee honorary president Dr. N. Ranga Rao said.
